The past two years in RSP Operation Hope has taught me that just like a 🌈, we are humble but ever-present; constantly learning to love selflessly and to make a small difference to each child’s life. Many a times in life, people forget that its the small things that count. This is the key driving force for me to keep my head high and continue striving for what I believe in and hope that eventually, I’ll be thankful for the things I’ve learned and for the children & families I’ve brought joy to (or vice-versa)

Every week, I get to see strong, admirable children who are battling chronic and life-threatening diseases with so much courage and positivity. The volunteering sessions help remind me of the things I've taken for granted, and also to be kinder to strangers. I believe that volunteering with OH has allowed me to grow and mature to become a better person as I learn from those little teachers I meet every week.
If these children can go through such painful ordeal with big smiles on their faces still, I think anyone should be able to overcome any challenge they face if they try hard enough. When the going gets tough, WE need to get going.

I have only volunteered for a year with Operation Hope, but it has been a very enjoyable and fulfilling journey thus far.
During my weekly clinic interactions with children and youth diagnosed with chronic and life-threatening diseases at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, my heart genuinely aches when I witness some of the ordeals they go through in battling the illnesses. Nevertheless, the positivity and strength they demonstrate in overcoming such adversity is definitely heartening, and it fills me with immense joy when I see the children smile and laugh during our weekly engagements.
OH truly brings colours to my life, and I’m looking forward to another fruitful year with our volunteers and service users🌈✨

When I was a freshie, Operation Hope welcomed me into NTU with so much warmth and sincerity. 💛 It’s my honour to have been provided with such a meaningful volunteering opportunity, which I look forward to learn from for years to come!

Being in RSP OH gave me opportunities to work with kids who were so innocent, energetic and genuine. Interacting with them every week is definitely something I look forward to and although it might just be 2 hours, you can tell that the kids really enjoy themselves, and appreciate you at the end of each session. These brave warriors who have been battling illnesses may seem weak to others, but are the ones who taught me to be brave, optimistic and to make the most out of everyday, and I am very thankful for that.
Although it has only been a year since I joined RSP OH, I enjoy and cherish every minute spent with everybody, including my fellow volunteers, service users, and their caregivers. I believe that I have so much more to learn from them and I look forward to another year with everyone 😊

The past year in RSP Operation Hope has really been an eye-opening and fulfilling one. Seeing children fight their illnesses with such positivity has really taught me to appreciate the finer things in life more.
Every week, I get the opportunity to interact with them, through simple games and activities. Most children upon seeing us, would rush to the play area to wait for us, some even forgo their phone just join in the session. These simple activities, although may seem minute to us, can actually put a smile across their faces. Knowing that I made their day, makes mine as well.
At the end of the day, it’s you who decides what really defines you, and for me, it’s volunteering.

My experience in OH has been a fulfilling and enjoyable one. Knowing that I am giving back to the society brings me great satisfaction. Furthermore, it goes hand in hand with the code that I try to live by on a daily basis as I believe in giving back to the society and everyone should take some time out to do exactly that.
Moreover, the people in OH are family. Everyone looks out for one another and we always have the best times during our volunteering work ✨

Being a part of OH so far has definitely been a wonderful experience! From interacting with the children to meeting and bonding with fellow members, there’s so much to learn and gain from one another.
To me, volunteering teaches values beyond books, no two experience is the same and it urges you to stop and take a moment to appreciate even the simplest things in life. Once a week, I get the opportunity to make a child’s day and put smiles to their faces, and there’s nothing more precious than that!
I’m truly grateful to be a part of OH and looking forward to the year ahead ☺️

My journey in OH has been fulfilling and enjoyable. I started volunteering in OH because I wanted to bring joy to the children. Without knowing, it brought happiness to myself as I interact with them. The short 2 hours interaction I spend with the children is something I treasure a lot. While some of them were eager to interact with us, some of them may be quite shy and take a while to warm up to us. However at the end of the day, all of us go home with warm hearts.
These interactions we have with the children may seem small but it may a big difference to them. That's what keeps me going as I see them enjoy their time with us.

The sessions at CCF serve as a weekly reminder for me to be appreciative of the little things in life. The smiles that the children and their families carry with them as they brave through the treatments in the wee hours of the morning, made my problems appear so minute compared to theirs. Despite their circumstances and age, I learn so much from the children as they continue to inspire me to be someone I will be proud of in the future. OH is truly as vibrant as our logo (the rainbow 🌈), and I can’t wait to embark on this new journey with both our fresh and familiar faces!

Some people often ask, “what do you get from volunteering?” It isn’t the certificate nor an award you will receive, but the sense of joy you feel deep within when you bring and witness smiles across faces.
Being in OH gives me the platform to do just that and it has been a fulfilling experience - to see the smiles on the children and their parents/caregivers, no matter how subtle they are; and that is something we feel, not see. & one of the best parts yet - to be able to go through these w the OH fam 🌈✨

I started my operation hope journey with project canvass. Even though I was just a new member, my idea was being heard and was adopted for our canvassing event - the sale of handlettering notebooks. Being recognised and being able to be a contributing member to raise funds for the children was very fulfilling for me. But at that time, I haven’t had any interactions with any of the kids yet because I haven’t started my regular service project. After I started my weekly volunteer sessions I became even more committed to the cause because the kids bring so much laughter and colour to my life 🌈✨ I look forward to the achievements of operation hope this coming year as we all work together to bring oh to greater heights 🏆
